Proofreading

A fundamental and valuable level of editing, to identify and correct typographical errors, punctuation errors, misspellings, and formatting inconsistences. Proofreading may also mean comparing two documents for uniformity. Proofreading is sometimes considered the final stage of the editing process finding errors small and large that were overlooked during other editing. Without proofreading, costly errors or omissions may appear in writing.

Copyediting

In addition to proofreading, includes grammar, word usage, capitalisation, word breaks, tone and format. A copy editor may develop a style sheet to assure that certain words and styles are used consistently throughout a document, for example, capitalisation, use of italics. The copy editor may also apply a publisher's house style to a manuscript.

Substantive Editing

A 'moderate to heavy' edit seeking to achieve clarity of subject, logic, and consistency. Confusing and awkward writing may be reworked. Sentences are analysed to achieve clarity for structure and syntax. Long sentences may be enumerated or separated. Redundancies are removed or highlighted for review. Often occurs simultaneously with proofreading and copyediting.

Formatting

When required, style revisions will be suggested or implemened, for example, page numbers, margins, headings, spacing, indentations / paragraphs, quotes, references, footnotes and endnotes.

Content Creation and Rewriting

Creating distinctive and carefully researched original content, tailored to your needs. Rewriting of existing material, as required, to enhance the logic, clarity, or style.

Indexing

A well prepared index can improve readability of your manuscript. An alphabetical, or chronological, list of entries and sub-entries is created based on concepts contained in the manuscript.

Non-native English speaker

Transcription

A high-quality proofread transcript is provided from your recording, and edited, ready for publication or presentation of your choice. Proofreading and editing will eliminate language errors and ensure your transcriptions are accurate and consistent where there are multiple speakers, or accents and dialects, or specialised technical language used.  Transcribing voice could be used for business, legal, medical, interview, speeches, meetings, blog purposes.
